ADA / Non-Discrimination
ADA Coordinator
One of the responsibilities of the ADA Coordinator is to receive and investigate complaints. The purpose of the complaint procedure is to provide a mechanism for the resolution of discrimination issues at the local level, rather than require the complainant resorting to resolution at the federal level. The ADA grievance procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. It may be used by anyone wishing to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in employment practices and policies or the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by the City of Millington. The complaint should be in writing, if possible, and contain information about the alleged discrimination including name, address, phone number of complainant and location, date, and description of the situation. Alternative means of filing complaints, such as personal interviews or a tape recording of the complaint will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request. Complaints should be submitted by the grievant and/or a designee as soon as possible, but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation. The following person has been designated to handle questions, concerns, complaints, requests for accommodation, or requests for additional information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act:

The City of Millington is committed to promoting the quality of opportunity for all citizens. The City of Millington takes pride in ensuring that people with disabilities are able to take part in, and benefit from, the range of public programs, services, and activities offered by the City of Millington. People with disabilities also have the right to be accompanied by service animals in public areas throughout Shelby County under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and interference with or denial of this right may also be a violation of state law. Service animals play an important role in ensuring the independence of people with disabilities, and it is therefore our policy to welcome into our County any animal that is individually trained to assist a person with a disability.
