The City solicits bids for demolition of city owned buildings in two locations within the City. Location 1 is an old one-story school building at 4885 Bill Knight Road. Location 2 is a string of one-story commercial buildings facing Navy Road but with parcel addresses of 5025 and 5034 South Street.

Questions regarding bid specifications must be directed to John Trusty, Finance and Administration Director,
no later than 4:00 PM, May 30, 2017. Answers to all questions will be posted on this site prior to Noon on June 9, 2017.

The City commissioned the asbestos report for the Bill Knight property based on concerns from a visual inspection of the property and conditions in other school buildings in Shelby County. It is included in the bid documents. A report on the properties on South Street will be available on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Noon. The City will post this information on this site as soon as received. Due Date is extended to Monday, June 12 at 2 PM.

Any actions required as a result of the environmental reviews will be the responsibility of the contractor and should be included in the base bid.

The City will have MLGW cap all gas and remove electric service and Millington Water and Sewer will cap water and sewer service prior to notice to proceed being issued. Underground service to remaining buildings on all parcels will be ground marked.

There are no performance or bid bonds required on this project. 

As clarification, the original response should include the specifications and the Bid Sheet, which will become an attachment to the contract when awarded. Bidder may submit three (3) copies of the Bid Sheet instead of the entire package.

No pavement will be removed at the school property. The additive item on the schools property is only related to the areas disturbed by removal of the building.
Additive item for Location 1 requires top soil instead of fill being used in base bid. Additive should include price for seeding and wheat straw plus net of using good top soil instead of fill. The same applies to Location 2 additives dealing with seeding.

As stated in Item 13 on the General Information and Specifications Page, the contractor will be responsible for acquiring all required permits. This includes any required by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

Contractor is responsible for the entire project including safety, security, erosion control during and after demo, removal and disposal of all debris in a legal manner, etc.
